Land Rover Palm Beach To Participate in Land Rover North America’s TReK Off-Road Driving Competition
West Palm Beach, FL – September 23, 2019 –Land Rover Palm Beach recently announced plans to participate in Land Rover TReK 2020, Land Rover North America’s off-road driving skills competition. The competition is being held this year during the launch of the highly anticipated New Land Rover Defender.
Land Rover TReK 2020 is a two-day competition, comprised of a regional event and final event, for Land Rover retailer staff designed to educate and challenge sales, service and technician personnel with a variety of first-hand off-road experiences and challenges. The competition combines skills testing in off-road driving, navigation, and team collaboration to test some of the best off-road driving experts across the U.S. and Canada.
“Land Rover Palm Beach is honored and excited to be joining in this great off-road competition,” said Matt Adkins, General Manager. “Land Rover Palm Beach has a rich history with the Trek competition. Our three-person team showcases the incredible talent of our entire staff. We wish all the competing teams the best of luck. We’re ready for you!”
A Land Rover Palm Beach team competed at the very first Land Rover Trek competition back in 1996 at the Buckhead Ranch in Atlanta, Vermont in 1997 and also in 2000 and 2002 making 2020 the 5th Land Rover Trek with a Land Rover Palm Beach team!
For Land Rover TReK 2020, Land Rover Palm Beach will be represented by Abel Burgos, Parts Consultant, Lee Schadt, Sales Guide, and Danny Adkins, Land Rover Technician. The team will be going head to head against 53 three-person Land Rover retailer teams, in a number of team and group challenges. Each team will be competing in a series of 53 identically prepared, custom-built 2020 Land Rover Discovery SUVs for the Regional Trials taking place at the Land Rover Experience Center at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina.
The winning team from each sales region will then head to the TReK Finals held in January 2020 in Palm Springs, California, where they will compete with the New 2020 Land Rover Defender.
The reintroduction of the TReK competition is timed ahead of the return of the Defender family to the Land Rover brand. The previous-generation model of the Defender ceased global production in 2016 and has been absent from the U.S. market for more than 20 years; last being offered for the 1997 model year.
UPDATE: Land Rover Palm Beach team tied for 6th place at the North Carolina competition.
