Each new Land Rover model will include two smart keys, which act as remote controls as well as alarm systems for your vehicle. Not only can you use your Land Rover key fob with just a touch of a button, but your fob also includes an emergency key as a backup. Here are the basic functions of your Land Rover smart key.
Wondering how programming your Land Rover key fob works? If your Land Rover key fob is not working or your Land Rover smart key is not recognized, you’ll find three simple steps to get you back on the road quickly:
Step 1
Step outside with all of your Range Rover doors closed to begin your Land Rover key fob programming. On the key unit and integrated remote fob, continuously press down the “Lock” button. As you’re holding down this button, put the key into your driver’s side door lock.
Step 2
As you’re still holding down the “Lock” button on your key fob, rotate the key in the door lock clockwise. Keep your key rotated as far as possible for three seconds. As you’re rotating your key back to the center position, take it out of the lock without releasing the “Lock” button.
Step 3
Stop holding the “Lock” button on your key fob once the key is clear of your door. The Range Rover and the key fob will synchronize and your remote buttons can then control your vehicle’s lock functions.
In the event that you need to use the emergency blade key to unlock your Land Rover, or if your smart key isn’t recognized for some reason, you will need to use the keyless start backup feature both to first disarm the alarm and start your vehicle’s engine.
It’s important to note that the keyless start backup feature is only an option when, in your message center, you see “Smart Key Not Found – Position As Shown And Press Start Button” displayed. Should this be the case, here are the steps you will need to follow, according to Land Rover:
